Planning guide
Flying for the first time is easier than it looks once you know the steps. Here is a simple walkthrough from booking to boarding.
Check your booking confirmation for the airport, terminal and departure time, and arrive with plenty of time — a few hours for international flights. Make sure your passport (and visa, if needed) is valid and with you.
Check your baggage allowance in your booking so you know what you can carry on and what must be checked in. Weigh your bags at home to avoid surprises at the airport.
Check in online or at the counter, drop your checked bags, then clear security and immigration. Keep your boarding pass and passport handy. Head to your gate in good time — gates can be a long walk away and close before departure.
Give yourself a few hours for international flights to allow for check-in, security and immigration. Arriving early is far less stressful than rushing.
Your allowance is shown in your booking and on your ticket. Check it before you pack and weigh your bags at home.
